The Truant Boy. After Moore's "minstrel Boy." Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Oh the truant boy to the woods has goneA
And you ne'er alas can find himB
He's strapp'd his empty school bag onC
For his books are left behind himB
-
He's gone to shake the beechnuts downD
From a height 'twould make you shiverE
And stain his hands a gipsy brownD
With the walnuts by the riverE
-
Away from school said this youth so freeF
Tho' all the world should praise theeF
I'd rather climb this walnut treeF
Because it's such a daisyF
The truant fell but the stunning shockG
Could not bring his proud soul underE
I'll try again and here I goH
To get those nuts by thunderE
-
So he tightly strapp'd his bag so neatI
This soul of spunk and braveryF
And said If I in this get beatI
I will go back to slaveryF
But he climb'd the tree and got the nutsJ
And wander'd home in the gloamingK
Well knowing as the door he shutsJ
That his pa with rage is foamingK
-
But he gets some bread and steals to bedL
With his heart fill'd up with sorrowH
And shudders as he looks aheadL
And thinks of school to morrowH
He knows the score of lies he'll tellM
Will scarce prevent a lickingK
And he sadly wonders if 'tis wellM
To go thus walnut pickingK
