God of the harvest once againA
Our joyful tones we raiseB
For all Thy goodness day by dayC
We give Thee thankful praiseB
-
With blessings rich from fertile fieldD
And gifts from fruitful treeE
We wish this day our thanks to yieldD
With earnest hearts to TheeE
-
We plough'd the ground we sow'd the seedF
But Thou didst send the rainG
In grateful show'rs in time of needF
And now we've reap'd the grainG
-
The sun with grateful heat did shineH
The dew did nightly fallI
And now for loaded tree and vineH
We give Thee thanks for allI
-
The bee in well fill'd honey cellsJ
Her sweets for us hath stow'dK
The crystal water in the wellsJ
For us from springs hath flow'dK
-
The lowing herd the prancing steedF
Receiv'd we from Thy handL
And we this day return our meedL
Of praise throughout the landL
-
Then let us sing with earnest heartsM
Tho' joyful be each layC
And thankful ev'ry song that startsM
On this Thanksgiving DayC
