Love And Wine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGB IJIJ KLLL GJGJ MNMN GOGO

'Tis wine that cheers the soul of manA
With subtle and seductive flowB
It warms the heart as naught else canA
And banishes regret and woeB
-
It keeps alive the flick'ring flameC
Which strives to burn with feeble forceD
Within the heart so dull and tameC
But still of life the present sourceD
-
It warms up this fount of lifeE
And sends life's fluid here and thereF
And nerves and brain in gladsome strifeE
Forget their dull and dark despairF
-
And what is love if 'tis not wineG
Refin'd distill'd from grossness tho'H
More potent than the juice of vineG
And bringing greater joy and woeB
-
Does it not too refresh reviveI
And oft intoxicate the brainJ
And make the being all aliveI
With keenest joy or keenest painJ
-
And does it not when much indulg'dK
Or held by slack and yielding handL
Lead on to woes oft undivulg'dL
To crimes unknown throughout the landL
-
Oh blessed woman fruitful vineG
Inspiring and enchanting twainJ
I pray that neither love nor wineG
May o'er my will resistless reignJ
-
They tell us that the safest wayM
To 'scape from wine or woman's thrallN
Is to go on from day to dayM
And never drink or love at allN
-
I could give up the cheering wineG
And never taste the siren cupO
But oh thou woman nymph divineG
I can not will not give thee upO
