The war is o'er and vict'ry crownsA
Our youthful soldiers braveB
And back their homeward steps have turn'dC
Save those who found their graveB
Save those whom rebel bullets fell'dD
Whose martial souls have goneE
Whose bodies rest beneath the plainsF
Of wide SaskatchewanE
-
Sleep on brave hearts Nor bugle soundG
Nor beat of martial drumH
Shall make you spring to arms againI
And to your comrades comeH
Sleep on brave hearts Nor western stormJ
Nor rebel balls you'll feelK
You fought the last campaign of lifeL
And fought it well with RielK
-
And others wounded in the strifeL
Their valor still will burnM
And to the bloody field againI
Their spirits brave returnM
Tho' maim'd and bruis'd and battle wornN
Their names are honor'd hereO
Next to the names of those who foughtP
And found a bloody bierO
-
Oh British troops are braveB
To charge the foreign gunsQ
And British spirit shows itselfR
In our young country's sonsQ
Long long may truth and valor strongS
Inspire Canadian heartsT
To meet with steady braveryU
All rebel balls and dartsT
-
To meet all foreign foes or quellV
The sinful rebel's prideW
And teach that right must yet prevailX
That justice must presideW
That law must ne'er be set at naughtP
By selfish cliques or elansT
That right must ne'er give way to mightY
That liberty is man'sT
