Said Jane to John Come let us wedA
For know dear John I love youB
And by the bright stars overheadA
There's none I place above youB
-
I doubt it not said John and IC
Reciprocate the feelingD
And here with one despairing cryC
I kneel and love you kneelingD
-
Then why dear John do you despairE
If you do love so madlyF
Because said John my pocket thereE
Is slim and furnish'd badlyF
-
Oh that is naught said Jane with gleeF
I'd marry you to morrowG
And live on bread and water freeF
Without one grain of sorrowG
-
All right said John I'm with you thereE
Old Logan's charming daughterH
You'll get the bread the work to shareE
And I will get the waterH
