Christmas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIJKLLL MNMNOPOP QRQRSTST

Old father Time his cruel scytheA
Has swung full oft aroundB
Since last the merry Christmas bellsC
Rang out their cheerful soundB
With cruel vigor he has heldD
His great impartial swayE
And many thousands mown to earthF
Who saw last Christmas dayE
-
For some have left this world for ayeG
Who dwelt with us last yearH
Glad voices heard amongst us thenI
We never more shall hearJ
But still we'll build our Christmas firesK
And sing our Christmas songsL
And for one day forget our griefsL
Our failures and our wrongsL
-
Then ring ye joyful bells ring outM
Ye crashing cymbals fallN
And for old Christmas hale and stoutM
Sound up ye harps and allN
Let music's loud and sweetest strainO
Beat from our hearts each illP
Let thoughts of those assuage our painO
Who are around us stillP
-
Oh winsome maid oh hearty youthQ
I urge you on to gleeR
For in your innocence and truthQ
You all are dear to meR
Nor youth nor age should cherish gloomS
And voices oft should singT
So give the gladsome voices roomS
And let the joy bells ringT
