Disguises Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACABBABADCDB EFEFEGFGHHII JIJIJI

High stretched upon the swinging yardA
I gather in the sheetB
But it is hardA
And stiff and one cries hasteC
Then He that is most dear in my regardA
Of all the crew gives aidance meetB
But from His hands and from His feetB
A glory spreads wherewith the night is starredA
Moreover of a cup most bitter sweetB
With fragrance as of nardA
And myrrh and cassia spicedD
He proffers me to tasteC
Then I to Him Art Thou the ChristD
He saith Thou say stB
-
Like to an oxE
That staggers neath the mortal blowF
She grinds upon the rocksE
Then straight and lowF
Leaps forth the levelled line and in our quarter locksE
The cradle s rigged with swerving of the blastG
We goF
Our Captain lastG
DemandsH
Who fired that shot Each silent standsH
Ah sweet perplexityI
This too was HeI
-
I have an arbour wherein came a toadJ
Most hideous to seeI
Immediate seizing staff or goadJ
I smote it cruellyI
Then all the place with subtle radiance glowedJ
I looked and it was HeI
