The Tears Of Harlequin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCBD EEACAD FFACAD AABCBD

To you he gave his laughter and his jestA
His words that of all words were merriestA
His glad mad moments when the lights flared highB
And his wild song outshrilled the plaudits' dinC
For you that memory but happier IB
I who have known the tears of HarlequinD
-
Not mine those moments when the roses layE
Like red spilled wine on his triumphant wayE
And shouts acclaimed him through the music's beatA
Above the voice of flute and violinC
But I have known his hour of sore defeatA
I I have known the tears of HarlequinD
-
Light kisses and light words they were not mineF
Poor perquisites of many a ColumbineF
Bought with his laughter flattered by his jestA
But when despair broke through the painted grinC
His tortured face has fallen on my breastA
I I have known the tears of HarlequinD
-
You weep for him who look upon him deadA
That joy and jest and merriment are fledA
You weep for him what time my eyes are dryB
Knowing what peace a weary soul may winC
Stifled by too much masking even IB
I who have known the tears of HarlequinD
