The Mother Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EEEE

So quietly I seem to sit apartA
I think she does not know or guess at allB
How dear this certain hour to my old heartA
When in our quiet street the shadows fallB
-
She leans and listens at the little gateC
I sit so still not any eye might seeD
How watchfully before her there I waitC
For that one step that brings my world to meD
-
She does not know that long before they meetE
So eagerly must go a love athirstE
My heart outstrips the flying of her feetE
And meets and greets him first and greets him firstE
