The Disciples Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACCA DDEE FGFFHIF JJKK

A great king made a feast for LoveA
And golden was the board and goldB
The hundred wondrous gauds thereofA
Soft lights like roses fell aboveA
Rare dishes exquisite and fineC
In jeweled goblets shone the wineC
A great king made a feast for LoveA
-
Yet Love as gladly and full fed hath faredD
Upon a broken crust that two have sharedD
And from scant wine as glorious dreams drawn upE
Seeing two lovers kissed above the cupE
-
A great king made for Love's delightF
A temple wonderful whereinG
Served jeweled priest and acolyteF
There fell no darkness day or nightF
Since there his highest altar shoneH
With flaming gems as some white sunI
A temple made for Love's delightF
-
Yet Love hath found a temple as completeJ
In some bare attic where two lovers meetJ
And made his altar by one candle's flameK
Seeing two lovers burned it in his nameK
