The Awakening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBEFD GHBIJKFL MBKNBBBN

When the white dawn comesA
I shall kneel to welcome itB
The dread that darkened on my eyesC
Shall vanish and be goneD
I shall look upon itB
As the parched on fountainsE
Yet it was the blinding nightF
That taught the joy of dawnD
-
When the first bird singsG
Oh I shall hear rejoicingH
And all my life shall thrill to itB
And all my heart draw nearI
I shall lean to listenJ
Lest a note elude meK
Yet it was the fearsome nightF
That taught me how to hearL
-
When the sun comes upM
I shall lift my arms to itB
The fear of fear shall fall from meK
As shackles from a slaveN
I shall run to hail itB
Free and unbewilderedB
Yet it was the silent nightB
That taught me to be braveN
