The Years Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBDEEB FGHFGH

Time in advance behind him hides his wings YOUNGA
-
-
As comes amain the glossy flying ravenB
That with unwavering wing breast on the viewC
Cleaves slow the lucid air beneath the blueC
And seems scarce other than a figure gravenB
Ha now the sweeping pinions flash as levinD
And all their silken cordage whistles loudE
Lo the departing flight like fleck of cloudE
Is swallowed quick by the awaiting heavenB
-
-
So lag and tarry to the youth the yearsF
In their oncoming from the brooding skyG
Till bursts at middle life their rushing speedH
All breathless with the world of hopes and fearsF
And lo departing the Eternal EyeG
Winks them to moments in His endless bredeH
