The Years Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBDEEB FGHFGH| Time in advance behind him hides his wings YOUNG | A |
| - | |
| - | |
| As comes amain the glossy flying raven | B |
| That with unwavering wing breast on the view | C |
| Cleaves slow the lucid air beneath the blue | C |
| And seems scarce other than a figure graven | B |
| Ha now the sweeping pinions flash as levin | D |
| And all their silken cordage whistles loud | E |
| Lo the departing flight like fleck of cloud | E |
| Is swallowed quick by the awaiting heaven | B |
| - | |
| - | |
| So lag and tarry to the youth the years | F |
| In their oncoming from the brooding sky | G |
| Till bursts at middle life their rushing speed | H |
| All breathless with the world of hopes and fears | F |
| And lo departing the Eternal Eye | G |
| Winks them to moments in His endless brede | H |
