Repose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFDH IJKJLL MNOPQQ

A mossy footfall in this woodA
A peal of thunder wereB
Or autumn tempest shriek comparedC
With the unwhispered stirB
Of massy fluids lift in airD
To build these leafy pillars fairD
-
Lavished at wordless wish or muteE
Command the chemic wealthF
Upsprings to meet the builders' handsG
All hushed as dusky stealthF
Noiseless as love as silent prayerD
Mysterious the builders areH
-
-
Ah sure these silences are worksI
Of God's sabbatic restJ
A music perfect as the calmK
Of wave's unbroken crestJ
These woven leaves that stilly nodL
These violets ope their eyes on GodL
-
The deep serene that worketh hereM
Works too 'mid human tearsN
A thousand years as one day isO
One day a thousand yearsP
Fell death still thunders at his taskQ
But death the peace of God doth maskQ
