Ay Me! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA

Silent with hands crost meekly on his breastA
Long time with keen and meditative eyeB
Stood the old painter of Siena byB
A canvas whose sign manual him confestA
-
His head droopt low his eye ceased from its questA
As tears filled full the fountains long since dryB
And from his lips there broke the haunting cryB
May God forgive me I did not my bestA
