Rhyme Scheme: AABC DEFF GHGI JKLK AMNM HOHP

You were covered in dew still wet when we first metA
You and I a duetA
A perfect match I had thoughtB
A perfect rose in my palms only it had thornsC
-
Pricked my finger onceD
Pricked my finger twiceE
But I still chose to hold you tightF
In the midst of the nightF
-
You couldn't have been the oneG
I was broken inside anguished within me did bindH
I watched my hands bleed damage you have doneG
I was one with the smell on your petalI
-
You were beautiful oh don't get me wrong and you still areJ
Your colour resembling that precious smileK
You couldn't have been that strong to break my heartL
Oh well perhaps that's what you get for going an extra mileK
-
I missed a spot when we first metA
You were perfect but touched with a bit of a wreckM
How could I've not seen such a marvelous messN
A perfect rose in my palms only it had thorns what the heckM
-
It is true when they say love Is blindH
You had me marred and i still did not flinchO
Longing for love thought in you I'd findH
How I avoided the thorns that pinchedP

Tebello Ramaele

Poet's note: This poem is a very personal poem , someone whom I used to be close with , like the thorns on a rose pricked my heart. People do change , but we learn to accept and embrace the after math that comes with it.
