Suicide Off Egg Rock Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDAEAAEAFGA AHIJIKI LHI M

Behind him the hotdogs split and drizzledA
On the public grills and the ochreous salt flatsB
Gas tanks factory stacks that landscapeC
Of imperfections his bowels were part ofD
Rippled and pulsed in the glassy updraughtA
Sun struck the water like a damnationE
No pit of shadow to crawl intoA
And his blood beating the old tattooA
I am I am I am ChildrenE
Were squealing where combers broke and the spindriftA
Raveled wind ripped from the crest of the waveF
A mongrel working his legs to a gallopG
Hustled a gull flock to flap off the sandspitA
-
He smoldered as if stone deaf blindfoldA
His body beached with the sea's garbageH
A machine to breathe and beat foreverI
Flies filing in through a dead skate's eyeholeJ
Buzzed and assailed the vaulted brainchamberI
The words in his book wormed off the pagesK
Everything glittered like blank paperI
-
Everything shrank in the sun's corrosiveL
Ray but Egg Rock on the blue wastageH
He heard when he walked into the waterI
-
The forgetful surf creaming on those ledgesM
