In Midas' Country Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACA DEFGH IJKLK MMMMM NONPQ

Meadows of gold dust The silverA
Currents of the Connecticut fanB
And meander in bland pleatings underA
River verge farms where rye heads whitenC
All's polished to a dull lusterA
-
In the sulfurous noon We moveD
With the languor of idols belowE
The sky's great bell glass and briefly engraveF
Our limbs' image on a field of strawG
And goldenrod as on gold leafH
-
It might be heaven this staticI
Plenitude apples gold on the boughJ
Goldfinch goldfish golden tiger cat stockK
Still in one gigantic tapestryL
And lovers affable dovelikeK
-
But now the water skiers raceM
Bracing their knees On unseen towlinesM
They cleave the river's greening patinasM
The mirror quivers to smithereensM
They stunt like clowns in the circusM
-
So we are hauled though we would stopN
On this amber bank where grasses bleachO
Already the farmer's after his cropN
August gives over its Midas touchP
Wind bares a flintier landscapeQ
