To Mrs. J.s. Blackie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDBBDEFEGHH

Dear Friend once in a dream I looking o'erA
The Past saw the Four Seasons slow advanceB
Dancing and dancing each her cognizanceC
So gave and took that neither dancer boreD
Her sign but in another's symbol woreD
An amulet to lessen or enhanceB
Herself till as they fast and faster danceB
I see a dance and lose the dancing fourD
Thus thy dear Poet at his sportive willE
Commingling every seasonable moodF
Of old and young and the peculiar illE
Of each still healing with the other's goodG
Bends to a circle life's proverbial spanH
Where childhood youth and age are unity in manH
