Samuel Brown Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBABACBABBBBBB| He came with us to thy great gates oh Thou | A |
| Unopened Age Our noise was like the wind | B |
| Chafing the wordy Deep but broad and blind | B |
| They stood unmoved Then He we knew not how | A |
| Laid forth his hand upon them Lo they grind | B |
| Revolving thunders Lo on his dark brow | A |
| The unknown light Lo | C |
| Azrael came behind | B |
| And touched him They clanged back and all was Now | A |
| We wondered and forgot but He unbent | B |
| With eye still strained to the forbidden day | B |
| Towered in the likeness of his great intent | B |
| As if his act should be his monument | B |
| Till Azrael pitied such sublime dismay | B |
| And led him onward by another way | B |
