Samuel Brown Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBABACBABBBBBBHe came with us to thy great gates oh Thou | A |
Unopened Age Our noise was like the wind | B |
Chafing the wordy Deep but broad and blind | B |
They stood unmoved Then He we knew not how | A |
Laid forth his hand upon them Lo they grind | B |
Revolving thunders Lo on his dark brow | A |
The unknown light Lo | C |
Azrael came behind | B |
And touched him They clanged back and all was Now | A |
We wondered and forgot but He unbent | B |
With eye still strained to the forbidden day | B |
Towered in the likeness of his great intent | B |
As if his act should be his monument | B |
Till Azrael pitied such sublime dismay | B |
And led him onward by another way | B |
