Esse Et Posse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCBADEDEFGDD

The groan of fallen Hosts a torrid glareA
Of cities battle cries of Right and WrongB
Where armies shout to rocking fleets that roarC
On thundering oceans to the thundering shoreC
And high o'er all long long prolonged alongB
The moaning caverns of the plaining airA
The cry of conscious Fate The firmamentD
Waves from above me like a tattered flagE
And as a soldier in his lowly tentD
Looks up when a shot strikes the helpless ragE
From o'er him and beholds the canopyF
Of Heaven so sudden to my startled eyeG
The Heavens that shall be The dream fades I standD
Among the mourners of a mourning landD
