The Spirit Of The Spring Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCDCCD EFEEFGHGGH IJIIIIKIIK LELLEAMANM

The spirit of the showerA
Of the sunshine and the breezeB
Of the dewy twilight hourA
Of the bud and opening flowerA
My soul delighted seesB
Stern winter's robe of grayC
Beneath thy balmy sighD
Like mist wreaths melt awayC
When the rosy laughing dayC
Lifts up his golden eyeD
-
Spirit of ethereal birthE
Thy azure banner floatsF
In lucid folds o'er air and earthE
And budding woods pour forth their mirthE
In rapture breathing notesF
I see upon the fleecy cloudG
The spreading of thy wingsH
The hills and vales rejoice aloudG
And Nature starting from her shroudG
To meet her bridegroom springsH
-
Spirit of the rainbow zoneI
Of the fresh and breezy mornJ
Spirit of climes where joy aloneI
For ever hovers round thy throneI
On wings of light upborneI
Eternal youth is in thy trainI
With rapture beaming eyesK
And Beauty with her magic chainI
And Hope that laughs at present painI
Points up to cloudless skiesK
-
Spirit of love of life and lightL
Each year we hail thy birthE
The day star from the grave of nightL
That set to rise in skies more brightL
To bless the sons of earthE
With leaf and bud and perfumed flowerA
Still deck the barren sodM
In thee we trace a higher powerA
In thee we claim a brighter dowerN
The day spring of our GodM
