The Pause Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFH IJIJ

There is a pause in nature ere the stormA
Rushes resistless in its awful mightB
There is a softening twilight ere the mornC
Expands her wings of glory into lightB
-
There is a sudden stillness in the heartD
Ere yet the tears of wounded feeling flowE
A speechless expectation ere the dartD
Of sorrow lays our fondest wishes lowE
-
There is a dreamy silence in the mindF
Ere yet it wakes to energy of thoughtG
A breathless pause of feeling undefinedF
Ere the bright image is from fancy caughtH
-
There is a pause more holy stillI
When Faith a brighter hope has givenJ
And soaring over earthly illI
The soul looks up to heavenJ
