On The Shore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CCDC EEFE GGHG IIBI

The punctual tide draws up the bayA
With ripple of wave and hiss of sprayA
And the great red flower of the light house towerB
Blooms on the headland far awayA
-
Petal by petal its fiery roseC
Out of the darkness buds and growsC
A dazzling shape on the dim far capeD
A beckoning shape as it comes and goesC
-
A moment of bloom and then it diesE
On the windy cliff 'twixt the sea and skiesE
The fog laughs low to see it goF
And the white waves watch it with cruel eyesE
-
Then suddenly out of the mist cloud dunG
As touched and wooed by unseen sunG
Again into sight bursts the rose of lightH
And opens its petals one by oneG
-
Ah the storm may be wild and the sea be strongI
And man is weak and the darkness longI
But while blossoms the flower on the light house towerB
There still is place for a smile and a songI
