November Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE DGGD HIIH JKKJ LMNL OJJP

Dry leaves upon the wallA
Which flap like rustling wings and seek escapeB
A single frosted cluster on the grapeB
Still hangs and that is allA
-
It hangs forgotten quiteC
Forgotten in the purple vintage dayD
Left for the sharp and cruel frosts to slayD
The daggers of the nightC
-
It knew the thrill of springE
It had its blossom time its perfumed noonsF
Its pale green spheres were rounded to soft runesF
Of summer's whisperingE
-
Through balmy morns of MayD
Through fragrances of June and bright JulyG
And August hot and still it hung on highG
And purpled day by dayD
-
Of fair and mantling shapesH
No braver fairer cluster on the treeI
And what then is this thing has come to theeI
Among the other grapesH
-
Thou lonely tenant of the leafless vineJ
Granted the right to grow thy mates besideK
To ripen thy sweet juices but deniedK
Thy place among the wineJ
-
Ah we are dull and blindL
The riddle is too hard for us to guessM
The why of joy or of unhappinessN
Chosen or left behindL
-
But everywhere a hostO
Of lonely lives shall read their type in thineJ
Grapes which may never swell the tale of wineJ
Left out to meet the frostP
