My White Chrysanthemum Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAA CDDCC DEEDD FGGFF HGGHH IJJII

As purely white as is the drifted snowA
More dazzling fair than summer roses areB
Petalled with rays like a clear rounded starB
When winds pipe chilly and red sunsets glowA
Your blossoms blowA
-
Sweet with a freshening fragrance all their ownC
In which a faint dim breath of bitter liesD
Like wholesome breath mid honeyed flatteriesD
When other blooms are dead and birds have flownC
You stand aloneC
-
Fronting the winter with a fearless graceD
Flavoring the odorless gray autumn chillE
Nipped by the furtive frosts but cheery stillE
Lifting to heaven from the bare garden placeD
A smiling faceD
-
Roses are fair but frail and soon grow faintF
Nor can endure a hardness violets blueG
Short lived and sweet live but a day or twoG
The nun like lily bows without complaintF
And dies a saintF
-
Each following each they hasten them awayH
And leave us to our winter and our rueG
Sad and uncomforted you only youG
Dear hardy lover keep your faith and stayH
Long as you mayH
-
And so we choose you out from all the restI
For that most noble word of LoyaltyJ
Which blazoned on your petals seems to beJ
Winter is near stay with us be our guestI
The last and bestI
