Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDEF GHHG IJJK LMML NOON PQQP RSSR TUUT GVWGWhen dawns on earth the Easter sun | A |
The dear saints feel an answering thrill | B |
With whitest flowers their hands they fill | B |
And singing all in unison | A |
- | |
Unto the battlements they press | C |
The very marge of heaven how near | D |
And bend and look upon us here | E |
With eyes that rain down tenderness | F |
- | |
Their roses brimmed with fragrant dew | G |
Their lilies fair they raise on high | H |
Rejoice The Lord is risen they cry | H |
Christ is arisen we prove it true | G |
- | |
Rejoice and dry those faithless tears | I |
With which your Easter flowers are stained | J |
Share in our bliss who have attained | J |
The rapture of the eternal years | K |
- | |
Have proved the promise which endures | L |
The Love that deigned the Love that died | M |
Have reached our haven by His side | M |
Are Christ's but none the less are yours | L |
- | |
Yours with a nearness never known | N |
While parted by the veils of sense | O |
Infinite knowledge joy intense | O |
A love which is not love alone | N |
- | |
But faith perfected vision free | P |
And patience limitless and wise | Q |
Beloved the Lord is risen arise | Q |
And dare to be as glad as we | P |
- | |
We do rejoice we do give thanks | R |
O blessed ones for all your gain | S |
As dimly through these mists of pain | S |
We catch the gleaming of your ranks | R |
- | |
We will arise with zeal increased | T |
Blending the while we strive and grope | U |
Our paler festival of Hope | U |
With your Fruition's perfect feast | T |
- | |
Bend low beloved against the blue | G |
Lift higher still the lilies fair | V |
Till following where our treasures are | W |
We come to join the feast with you | G |
