Benedicam Domino Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACADDDC EFGFFHHHF

Thank God for life life is not sweet alwaysA
Hands may he heavy laden hearts care fullB
Unwelcome nights follow unwelcome daysA
And dreams divine end in awakenings dullC
Still it is life anil life is cause for praiseA
This ache this restlessness this quickening stingD
Prove me no torpid and inanimate thingD
Prove me of Him who is of life the SpringD
I am alive and that is beautifulC
-
Thank God for Love though Love may hurt and woundE
Though set with sharpest thorns its rose may beF
Roses are not of winter all attunedG
Must be the earth full of soft stir and freeF
And warm ere dawns the rose upon its treeF
Fresh currents through my frozen pulses runH
My heart has tasted summer tasted sunH
And I can thank Thee Lord although not oneH
Of all the many roses blooms for meF
