At The Gate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEDE FGHFHG IJKJKJ LMNLNL OPQOQO RSGRGR

For behold the kingdom of God is within youA
-
-
Thy kingdom hereB
Lord can it beC
Searching and seeking everywhereD
For many a yearE
Thy kingdom come has been my prayerD
Was that dear kingdom all the while so nearE
-
Blinded and dullF
With selfish sinG
Have I been sitting at the gatesH
Called BeautifulF
Where Thy fair angel stands and waitsH
With hand upon the lock to let me inG
-
Was I the wallI
Which barred the wayJ
Darkening the glory of Thy graceK
Hiding the rayJ
Which shining out as from Thy very faceK
Had shown to other men the perfect dayJ
-
Was I the barL
Which shut me outM
From the full joyance which they tasteN
Whose spirits areL
Within Thy Paradise embracedN
Thy blessed Paradise which seemed so farL
-
The vision swellsO
I seem to catchP
Celestial breezes rustling lowQ
The asphodelsO
Where singing softly ever to and froQ
Moves each fair saint who in Thy presence dwellsO
-
Let me not sitR
Another hourS
Idly awaiting what is mine to winG
Blinded in witR
Lord Jesus rend these walls of self and sinG
Beat down the gate that I may enter itR
