April. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB ACAC DEDE ABAB AFAF GHGI GJGJ GKGK DLDL MNLN

Hark upon the east wind piping creepingA
Comes a voice all clamorous with despairB
It is April crying sore and weepingA
O'er the chilly earth so brown and bareB
-
When I went away she murmurs sobbingA
All my violet banks were starred with blueC
Who O who has been here basely robbingA
Bloom and odor from the fragrant crewC
-
Who has reft the robin's hidden treasureD
All the speckled spheres he loved so wellE
And the buds which danced in merry measureD
To the chiming of the hyacinth's bellE
-
Where are all my hedge rows flushed with MayingA
And the leafy rain that tossed so fairB
Like the spray from silver fountains playingA
Where the elm tree's column rose in airB
-
All are vanished and my heart is breakingA
And my tears they slowly drip and fallF
Only death could listen without wakingA
To the grief and passion of my callF
-
Thus she plaineth Then ten million voicesG
Tiny murmurous like drops of rainH
Raised in song as when the wind rejoicesG
Ring the answer We are here againI
-
We were hiding April Did you miss usG
None of us were really gone awayJ
Stoop thy pretty head and gently kiss usG
Once before we all come out to playJ
-
Here are all the clustering burls of rosesG
And the dandelion's mimic sunK
Of thy much beloved and vanished posiesG
None are missing not a single oneK
-
Little points of green push out to greet herD
Little creepers grasp her garment's hemL
Hidden sweetnesses grow ever sweeterD
As she bends and brightly smiles at themL
-
Every tear is answered by a blossomM
Every high with songs and laughter blentN
Apple blooms upon the breezes toss themL
April knows her own and is contentN
