Robert E. Lee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKL

The man was loved the man was idolizedA
The man had every just and noble giftB
He took great burdens and he bore them wellC
Believed in God but did not preach too muchD
Believed and followed duty first and lastE
With marvellous consistency and forceF
Was a great victor in defeat as greatG
No more no less always himself in bothH
Could make men die for him but saved his menI
Whenever he could save them was most kindJ
But was not disobeyed was a good fatherK
A loving husband a considerate friendL
