I was just aiming at the jagged holeC
Torn in the yellow sandbags of their trenchD
When something threw me sideways with a wrenchD
And the skies seemed to shrivel like a scrollC
And disappear and propped against the boleC
Of a big elm I lay and watched the cloudsE
Float through the blue deep sky in speckless crowdsE
And I was clean again and young and wholeC
-
Lord what a dream that was And what a dozeF
Waiting for Bill to come along to classG
I've cut it now and he Oh hello FredH
Why what's the matter here don't be an assG
Sit down and tell me What do you supposeF
I dreamed I am I wounded You are deadH
