Biography of Siva Mahendran

Dr. Siva Mahendran is a self-employed professionally qualified counsellor, a workplace literacy trainer and adult educator for the Workforce Singapore (WSG), and is also a Sessional English lecturer in an Australian university, based in Singapore, since mid-2015. He has been in the education field since the early 1980s and had taught in primary and secondary schools, private colleges and tertiary institutions for over 35 years. He has also been counselling and giving talks and workshops on socio-emotional matters to children, youth and adults from all walks of life, on an ad hoc basis, in schools, private establishments, the Singapore Indian Association (where he was a locum counsellor from 2000 to 2004), and has run counselling courses up to Masters level in various private colleges and tertiary institutions since 2000.

In December 2018, he was awarded a commendation award for distinguished service, loyalty and dedication by a training institute he is attached with.

He has been engaged from time to time in local and international conferences, discussion forums via radio and television programmes in Singapore He has also acted in an English drama (Fast Forward programme in late 1980s) to promote the English language and in two Tamil dramas about familial socio-emotional issues in the local tele-media, which have kept his passion alive in academia viz a viz English language and counselling psychology and kindled his aspiration for life-long learning.

In October 2020, he was selected to be a Mentor to students and alumni of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore . He was also selected to be a Review Member in the International Journal of Research and Analytical Reviews (IJRAR).
