Praise And Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEFG HIHI

Praise is devotion fit for mighty mindsA
The diff'ring world's agreeing sacrificeB
Where Heaven divided faiths united findsA
But Prayer in various discord upward fliesC
-
For Prayer the ocean is where diverselyD
Men steer their course each to a sev'ral coastE
Where all our interests so discordant beF
That half beg winds by which the rest are lostG
-
By Penitence when we ourselves forsakeH
'Tis but in wise design on piteous HeavenI
In Praise we nobly give what God may takeH
And are without a beggar's blush forgivenI
