A Short Hymn Upon The Birth Of Prince Charles Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKLL

You that on Stars do lookA
Arrest not there your sightB
Though Natures fairest BookA
And signed with propitious lightB
Our Blessing now is more DivineC
Then Planets that at Noon did shineC
-
To thee alone be praiseD
From whom our Joy descendsE
Thou Chearer of our DaysD
Of Causes first and last of EndsE
To thee this May we sing by whomF
Our Roses from the Lilies bloomF
-
Upon this Royal FlowerG
Sprung from the chastest BedH
Thy glorious sweetness showerG
And first let Myrtles Crown his HeadH
Then Palms and Lawrels wreath'd betweenI
But let the Cypress late be seenI
-
And so succeeding menJ
When they the fulness seeK
Of this our Joy shall thenJ
In consort joyn as well as weK
To celebrate his Praise aboveL
That spreads our Land with fruits of LoveL
