Victoria Regina Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF

A thousand years by sea and landA
Our race hath served the island kingsB
But not by custom's dull commandA
To day with song her Empire ringsB
-
Not all the glories of her birthC
Her armed renown and ancient throneD
Could make her less the child of earthC
Or give her hopes beyond our ownD
-
But stayed on faith more sternly provedE
And pride than ours more pure and deepF
She loves the land our fathers lovedG
And keeps the fame our sons shall keepF
