Hymn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABAC DEDE FGFG HIJI KGKG LGLG DEDE

In The Time Of War And TumultsA
-
O Lord Almighty Thou whose handsA
Despair and victory giveB
In whom though tyrants tread their landsA
The souls of nations liveC
-
Thou wilt not turn Thy face awayD
From those who work Thy willE
But send Thy peace on hearts that prayD
And guard Thy people stillE
-
Remember not the days of shameF
The hands with rapine dyedG
The wavering will the baser aimF
The brute material prideG
-
Remember Lord the years of faithH
The spirits humbly braveI
The strength that died defying deathJ
The love that loved the slaveI
-
The race that strove to rule Thine earthK
With equal laws unboughtG
Who bore for Truth the pangs of birthK
And brake the bonds of ThoughtG
-
Remember how since time beganL
Thy dark eternal mindG
Through lives of men that fear not manL
ls light for all mankindG
-
Thou wilt not turn Thy face awayD
From those who work Thy willE
But send Thy strength on hearts that prayD
For strength to serve Thee stillE
