Felix Antonius Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB DEFD GHIG JKKJ

After MartialA
-
To day my friend is seventy fiveB
He tells his tale with no regretC
His brave old eyes are steadfast yetC
His heart the lightest heart aliveB
-
He sees behind him green and wideD
The pathway of his pilgrim yearsE
He sees the shore and dreadless hearsF
The whisper of the creeping tideD
-
For out of all his days not oneG
Has passed and left its unlaid ghostH
To seek a light for ever lostI
Or wail a deed for ever doneG
-
So for reward of life long truthJ
He lives again as good men canK
Redoubling his allotted spanK
With memories of a stainless youthJ
