Farewell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEB ABFBGG

Mother with unbowed headA
Hear thou across the seaB
The farewell of the deadA
The dead who died for theeB
Greet them again with tender words and graveC
For saving thee themselves they could not saveC
-
To keep the house unharmedD
Their fathers built so fairE
Deeming endurance armedD
Better than brute despairE
They found the secret of the word that saithB
'Service is sweet for all true life is death '-
-
So greet thou well thy deadA
Across the homeless seaB
And be thou comfortedF
Because they died for theeB
Far off they served but now their deed is doneG
For evermore their life and thine are oneG
