The Herring Weir Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFDGF

Back to the green deeps of the outer bayA
The red and amber currents glide and cringeB
Diminishing behind a luminous fringeB
Of cream white surf and wandering wraiths of sprayA
Stealthily in the old reluctant wayA
The red flats are uncovered mile on mileC
To glitter in the sun a golden whileC
Far down the flats a phantom sharply greyA
The herring weir emerges quick with spoilD
Slowly the tide forsakes it Then draws nearE
Descending from the farm house on the heightF
A cart with gaping tubs The oxen toilD
Sombrely o'er the level to the weirG
And drag a long black trail across the lightF
