The red and amber currents glide and cringe | B |
Diminishing behind a luminous fringe | B |

Stealthily in the old reluctant way | A |
The red flats are uncovered mile on mile | C |
To glitter in the sun a golden while | C |
Far down the flats a phantom sharply grey | A |
The herring weir emerges quick with spoil | D |

A cart with gaping tubs The oxen toil | D |
Sombrely o'er the level to the weir | G |
And drag a long black trail across the light | F |
