The Hawkbit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

How sweetly on the autumn sceneA
When haws are red amid the greenA
The hawkbit shines with face of cheerB
The favorite of the faltering yearB
-
When days grow short and nights grow coldC
How fairly gleams its eye of goldC
On pastured field and grassy hillD
Along the roadside and the rillD
-
It seems the spirit of a flowerE
This offspring of the autumn hourE
Wandering back to earth to bringF
Some kindly afterthought of springF
-
A dandelion's ghost might soG
Amid Elysian meadows blowG
Become more fragile and more fineH
Breathing the atmosphere divineH
