Hilltop Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK

When the lights come out in the cottagesA
Along the shores at eveB
And across the darkening waterC
The last pale colours leaveB
-
And up from the rock ridged pasture slopesD
The sheep bell tinklings stealE
And the folds are shut and the shepherdsF
Turn to their quiet mealE
-
And even here on the unfenced heightG
No journeying wind goes byH
But the earth sweet smells and the home sweet soundsI
Mount like prayer to the skyH
-
Then from the door of my opened heartJ
Old blindness and pride are drivenK
Till I know how high is the humbleL
The dear earth how close to heavenK
