Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBCDEDEDEAll holy influences dwell within | A |
The breast of Childhood instincts fresh from God | B |
Inspire it ere the heart beneath the rod | B |
Of grief hath bled or caught the plague of sin | A |
How mighty was that fervour which could win | A |
Its way to infant souls and was the sod | B |
Of Palestine by infant Croises trod | B |
Like Joseph went they forth or Benjamin | C |
In all their touching beauty to redeem | D |
And did their soft lips kiss the Sepulchre | E |
Alas the lovely pageant as a dream | D |
Faded They sank not through ignoble fear | E |
They felt not Moslem steel By mountain stream | D |
In sands in fens they died no mother near | E |
