Lullaby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABBC DDAAAAC AAAAAAC

Softly now the burn is rushingA
Every lark its song is hushingA
On the moor thick rest is fallingA
Just one heather blade is callingA
Calling calling lonely lonelyB
For my darling for my onlyB
Leanbhain O Leanbhain OC
-
Trotting home my dearie dearieD
Wee black lamb comes wearie wearieD
Here its soft feet pit a pattingA
Quickly o'er the flowery mattingA
See its brown black eyes a blinkingA
Of its bed it's surely thinkingA
Leanbhain O Leanbhain OC
-
The hens to roost wee Nora's shooingA
Brindley in the byre is mooingA
The tired out cricket's quit its callingA
Velvet sleep on all is fallingA
Lark and cow and sheep and starlingA
Feel it kiss our white haired darlingA
Leanbhain O Leanbhain OC
