| Brightened ever the ugly face of night | C |
| In fear again and again our eyes swoon | D |

| The maddened dogs bark the hungry lions roar | E |

| Flap their agitated wings at our door | E |

| We lose our sense in darkness lose our thought | G |
| And feelings When we get back sense we seek | H |
