Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBC CDEFF GGHH

CHILDREN ye have not lived to you it seemsA
Life is a lovely stalactite of dreamsA
Or carnival of careless joys that leapB
About your hearts like billows on the deepB
In flames of amber and of amethystC
-
-
Children ye have not lived ye but existC
Till some resistless hour shall rise and moveD
Your hearts to wake and hunger after loveE
And thirst with passionate longing for the thingsF
That burn your brows with blood red sufferingsF
-
-
Till ye have battled with great grief and fearsG
And borne the conflict of dream shattering yearsG
Wounded with fierce desire and worn with strifeH
Children ye have not lived for this is lifeH
