My Forties Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDCCEEFFFC

Alas I am here at the verge of my fortiesA
Looking backward and forward for my worriesA
Backward I see in me inexplicable naivetyB
Forward I see in this lady a careless auntyB
Who walks through life against the odds intrepidlyC
Who knows what s right and wrong instinctivelyC
I am here alive to survive the very sad momentsD
To thrive to blossom and never be like monumentsD
With three beautiful hearts inside my delicate bodyC
I am stronger than any other fortieth fragile ladyC
My three hearts will forever keep me alive to breatheE
Motherhood to transcend evilness and to never seetheE
My angels will always give me the wings to fly awayF
Away from whatever takes my glamour and glee awayF
To make me age languish and despair all along the wayF
My three angels are here to make me love my fortyC

Sarnou Dalal

Poet's note: I wrote this poem the very moment I reached my forty years. I am now a fortyish lady who loves her strength after thirty nine long years of tears and laughters. With my three children in my life, I simply feel blessed to have been able to make it until 40. I dedicate this poem to Anes, Marame and Rofaida, my three angels
