Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHJ AKK LMLM

Clouds do not always veil the skiesA
Nor showers immerse the verdant plainB
Nor do the billows always riseA
Or storms afflict the ruffled mainB
-
Nor Valgius on the Armenian shoresC
Do the chain'd waters always freezeD
Not always furious Boreas roarsC
Or bends with violent force the treesD
-
But you are ever drown'd in tearsE
For Mystes dead you ever mournF
No setting Sol can ease your caresE
But find you sad at his returnG
-
The wise experienced Grecian sageH
Mourn'd not Antilochus so longI
Nor did King Priam's hoary ageH
So much lament his slaughter'd sonJ
-
Leave off at length these woman's sighsA
Augustus' number'd trophies singK
To whom all nations tribute bringK
-
Niphates rolls an humbler waveL
At length th' undaunted Scythian yieldsM
Content to live the Roman slaveL
And scarce forsakes his native fieldsM
