Twenty Bold Mariners Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DBDB EFEF

Twenty bold mariners went to the waveA
Twenty sweet breezes blew over the mainB
All were so hearty so free and so braveA
But they never came back againC
-
Half the wild ocean rose up to the cloudsD
Half the broad sky scowled in thunder and rainB
Twenty white crests rose around them like shroudsD
And they stayed in the dancing mainB
-
This is easy to sing and often to mournE
And the breaking of dawn is no newer to dayF
But those who die young or are left forlornE
Think grief is no older than theyF
