The Shell And The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFG

The world was like a shell to meA
Its voice with distant song was lowB
But now its mysteries I knowB
I hear the turmoil of the seaA
-
The whirling soft and tender soundC
That meant I knew not what of loreD
I dream its mystery now no moreD
Its reckless meaning I have foundC
-
O shell I held thee to my earsE
When I was young and smiled with prideF
To stand aglow at marvel's sideF
O world thy voice is wild with tearsG
