The Outgoing Race Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGE FEHI JKLM

The mothers wish for no more daughtersA
There is no future before themB
They bow their heads and their prideC
At the end of the many tribes' journeyD
-
The mothers weep over their childrenE
Loved and unwelcome togetherF
Who should have been dreamed not bornG
Since there is no road for the IndianE
-
The mothers see into the futureF
Beyond the end of that ChieftainE
Who shall be the last of the raceH
Which allowed only death to a cowardI
-
The square cold cheeks lips firm setJ
The hot straight glance and the throat lineK
Held like a stag's on the cliffL
Shall be swept by the night winds and vanishM
